Teacake Bake Shop

Yesterday when I took the day off to get new glasses and take care of some other chores, I was persuaded to go into a quaint little shop at Bay Street.

Let me begin by saying, I wasn’t really buying into the whole “cupcake craze.”

Well I was way off with that idea. I headed into the Teacake Bake Shop and my eyes quickly took in the simple decor, the tasty smells, and most of all, the baked confections. It was like a piece of heaven, baked in a tray, and served individually.

The cupcakes were delicious, the owner was nice, and my sweet tooth was satisfied. They have a regular customer now. I just hope the store doesn’t go the way of Q-Cup which used to be in the location a few stores down. I’ll have to spread the word about Teacake, and here’s as good a place as any.

Oh, and I was especially pleased with myself when I identified the “Asian taste” of the cupcake as almond extract, or perhaps sesame oil. Asian Invasion!

how can you confuse sesame oil with almond extract???!!

Sesame oil is all stinky and sesme-ish, whereas almond extract is light and perfumey.

just in case you were wondering.
