Entourage

I was just starting to realize that there is nothing on TV for me these days when my forgotten gem suddenly popped up.

Entourage is probably one of my favorite shows because of its flashy and simple. Sometimes it’s too simple, and I find the episodes ending right as I get into them. But that’s negative, and this is about the positive: this show is superb.

Entourage is the only HBO show I watch. My problem with HBO is their ridiculous scheduling (2 seasons of Sopranos in 5+ years?), but now I’m a pawn of their maniacal schedules. I never really jumped into the Sopranos bandwagon. I’ve watched it a few times, and it’s just too deep for me to care about. Curb Your Enthusiasm annoys me in the same way Woody Allen annoys me (stuttering is entertaining?). I can enjoy Sex and the City, but I was never a “must watch!” fan. It’s a show like Friends that I can watch for a cheap laugh or two, but wouldn’t ever call myself a fan.

Entourage is different. I don’t know why though. It’s just funny, and the story arcs pull me in somehow. I recently read a review that basically said, “there’s nothing special about the show, but it somehow has you caring about Vince’s career, E’s lovelife, and Ari’s company.” And as a fan of Hollywood, it’s fun seeing the references and cameos.

Anyways, if you haven’t watched, I highly recommend you grab the DVDs (or Comcast OnDemand) and sit down. You can watch a whole season in one evening because the episodes flow so fluidly from one to the next.

Thank god this show came around to liven up my empty TV schedule.
